Transfection reagents for your highly efficient delivery of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) into mammalian cells. By choosing the favourable transfection reagent/strategy – depending on your cell type - the best transfection efficiency can be achieved. One strategy is based on cationic polymerization of the transfection reagent with the negatively charged nucleic acids. Subsequent cellular uptake occurs via endocytosis pathways. (Corresponding products: BCFA-213 and BCFA-214). Another strategy is the principle of natural cellular internalization processes such as receptor- mediated endocytosis, potocytosis and phagocytosis. Uptake of this ligand-receptor complex by the target cell is depending on several factors like expression level of the receptor on the target, the binding affinity of the ligand-receptor and the internalization route after ligand-receptor binding. (Corresponding products: BCFA-111, BCFA-028). Choosing the appropriate transfection reagent is thus very important and has to be considered for each cell type.
Metabolic labelling reagents: clickable sugars. In metabolic labelling, natural molecular building blocks are replaced with chemical analogues, which in turn are modified with specific compounds or moieties such as our clickable sugars. These clickable sugars are integrated by the cells synthesis and modification machinery and allow for easy detection of the target via the click chemistry based addition of fluorescent dyes. At the moment we offer the products BCFA-215 to BCFA-218 but this portfolio will soon be expanded.
Nuclear stains: DAPI and Hoechst staining H33342. These fluorescent compounds are used for nuclear staining to visualize DNA both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. DAPI and Hoechst dye molecules attach to the minor groove of the DNA double helix. Hoechst dyes can even pass through viable cell membranes. After cell staining with either DAPI (BCFA-211) or Hoechst staining H33342 (BCFA-212), when excited by an UV light source, blue fluorescence emission can be detected at 461 nm maximum emission. As stated in literature both dyes can be used for various applications like fluorescence microscopy, cell cycle analysis using flow cytometry, chromosome sorting and immunohistochemistry.
Additionally, a wide range of Assay/Kits like our EdU Flow cytometry kits, EdU in vivo kits, EdU Imaging kits, and EdU HTS kits are available to directly detect cell proliferation of your sample. Our EdU based live cell assays detect dividing cells in a given sample with high sensitivity and reliability, using various fluorescent readouts used in standard detection devices such as fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, high throughput screening and plate readers.
Our superior cell proliferation assay is based on the incorporation of a thymidine analogue during active cell division into the new synthesized DNA. Just as Bromodeoxyuridine incorporation (BrdU), Ethynyldeoxyuridine (EdU) is fed to living cells using similar incubation times, depending on cell type. While BrdU assays are laborious, time intensive and the antibody based detection requires harsh DNA denaturation steps, EdU assays overcome these limitations. In contrast, EdU cell proliferation kits from baseclick are easy to perform with detection times as low as 30 minutes, as no DNA denaturation step is required. This efficient and reliable EdU cell proliferation assay shows also higher sensitivity than current alternatives.
